The Great Wall

Like me, have you always wanted to see the Great Wall of China? I can now assure you that it is worth the trip!

Stretching as far as the eye can see and apparently over 3000 klms all told, the Great Wall is spectacular and hard work. From the outset the stair climb is steep and unrelenting so be prepared mentally and physically.

We managed five towers in our allotted two hours and this is sufficient distance to gain a sense of the grandeur of the wall and a sense of the enormous sacrifices that must have been made during its construction.

On route we were taken by our guide to Beijing’s largest jade shop. A pretty impressive affair an lots of hard selling going on. We loved the jade but not enough to part with hundreds or eve thousands of yuan on this occasion.

More of Beijing to come , bye bye!!
